I was thinking back to last year's Thanksgiving Day. We spent the week in New Orleans, and the city was basically closed for the day. We hiked around our campground in the morning, then drove around the famous 9th ward. This was the area hardest hit by hurricane Katrina. We were amazed at how 3 years later the area was a ghost town. we drove down dilapidated street after street of stairs to nowhere. There were even houses that are clearly unlivable that were still partially standing. It was a very strange ghost town. Talk about feeling thankful for what I have!!!
I know that this seems strange, but after our drive we went to a casino for Thanksgiving dinner. We called around to many places and few were open, and the casino has quite the selection ranging from the traditional Thanksgiving food, to Cajun dishes. As you can see from the pictures my husband ate way too much. 
Today's My World Tuesday is from Crystal River, Florida. Let me be honest with you and dispel a myth... the river is not crystal clear at all. In-fact, it is so murky that you can't see your hand in-front of your face. Crystal river is one of the few places that you can actually touch manatees. In all other places in the United States it is against the law to touch or approach a manatee. I guess that someone decided they would make $$ if they changed the rules in this town. We got up really early and drove to the dock, paid our money and boarded a boat. The captain saw a manatee.... so he said and we stopped the boat in the middle of nowhere and looked for manatees. No one saw one. We all told the captain that we needed to look in another spot, so he took us to a location with about 12 other boats. I guess that there were manatees right there, but as I said before the water was so murky that it is impossible to tell. I usually can see the bright side of things, but on this day I was disappointed and felt like we wasted our time. Here are pics of the day.
